My Own Reflection

hazycosmicjive:

I’ve decided that in order to be successful, or do great things in life, a person is required to work extremely hard and faces incredible competition.  This is no matter what you do.  If you want to live your life as an artist- poet, or work a more conventional job in business, either way you’ll face obstacles towards your chosen profession.  In the end, maybe you’ll succeed and maybe you won’t; but, the one constant between either route is that it’ll be hard.

Thus, the best thing to do is to pursue the path which you want, and not follow some false construction of “the easy way” because both roads are hard and long.  Your guiding light should be your work ethic and determination.  Remember, anything is possible; but nothing is easy. Stay true to course.

I say this at twenty-three with zero accomplishments.

All of this is unneccessary if you have zero desire for impact, accomplishment or greatness. Which might be a function of reading a little bit too much Albert Camus.

YOU HAVE IT RIGHT, I THINK.  HARD WORK IS A BIG PART OF SUCCESS.  FAILURE, TOO, IS A PART OF BEING SUCCESSFUL, IF WE LEARN FROM THE FAILURES.  WE NEED TO GET UP OFF OUR COLLECTIVE REAR ENDS AND GET CRACKING!  (no pun intended - rear end…crack).  IF WE ARE NOT WHERE WE WANT TO BE, WE MUST CHANGE WHAT WE ARE DOING.
